Admission

  • Reeds' own Entry Examinations at 11+ which are held in January of the year of entry.
  • The English and Maths Papers are based on the National Curriculum with applicants being expected to reach Level 5 Key Stage 2 standard
  • The Verbal and Non Verbal Reasoning tests are Multiple Choice papers by GL Assessment
  • Practice packs published by GL Assessment can be obtained from most stationers.
  • Most 13+ Entry is via Common Entrance.Sit a Pre-Test in October of Year 7 which consists of English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning.

Boarding Houses

  • Three well appointed boarding houses catering for the different age ranges of boarders. All boarding houses have recreational facilities and IT suites.
  • The Close (Years 7 & 8) - It is situated in a detached, self-contained building in its own grounds where the boys can experience a quality of care second to none within a warm and nurturing 'home from home'. The boys' needs will be looked after by the resident Housemaster and his wife supported by a resident House Tutor, visiting tutors and a Matron.
  • School House (Years 9 to 11) - It is situated on the 1st and 2nd fl oors of the main school building. There is a resident Housemaster and his wife, four resident House Tutors and a Matron;
  • The Sixth Form House (Years 12 & 13) - The Sixth Form House is a spacious, well equipped building incorporating dedicated facilities for boarding, work and recreation for
    our most senior pupils. Life in the Sixth Form prepares students for moving on to university and whilst staff provide close supervision and guidance this is balanced by encouraging self confi dence and independence.
  • Girls who board are accommodated in a separate wing and have their own common room to use if they wish. The Sixth Form house has a resident Housemaster and his wife responsible for the boarders, a resident House Tutor and a Matron.

GCSE Subjects

  • In the First to Third Forms (Years 7 to 9) pupils study a wide range of subjects before selecting nine
    subjects to specialise in at GCSE.
  • All pupils study English, English Literature, Mathematics, Science and a Modern Foreign Language in the First to Fifth Forms (Years 7 to 11).

GCE AL Subject Choice

  • In the Sixth Form (Years 12 and 13) pupils study an average of four subjects from around a possible 30 subjects, depending on demand.
