Dr. Chan, 我於polyu 畢業HD textile studies and going to study Msc in Textile studies (PT), 我有3年design experience, 但我而家做緊一些marketing but not related to textile 既工作已經3年，我唔知道讀完個master 之後可以做什麼工作，我想於vtc or university 教書，但不知道可唔可以，又想做一些univeristy or institution 既marketing 工作，但我既master 係唔related to marketing, 我是否需要讀一些有關marketing 既課程or degree? 及想做governemnt related 既工作，讀完這個master 之後，government 會否不認可? 因為their min. requirement is degree holder, 我係無讀過degree , 直接讀master, 他們會否不考慮我既資格? 我感到好徬徨，請給我寶貴意見。thanks. |

Well Tiffany,
I try to read from your situation that you are studying a Master degree straight from Higher Diploma is a fast track to get a further qualification without the step of the Bachelor degree. If the M.Sc is accredited by a local university, it should be accepted as a qualification.
But I hope you do like the subject of Textile since you spent quite a bit of your time in this area including working 3 years as a designer. So naturally if you want to go into teaching in the future, you will be considered from the textile field. Is that what you want to teach?
If you are interested in Marketing in university or NGO, you should do a reality check and search their job requirements from the online job board, so as to match what you have now and what you have to work hard for in order to satisfy the job requirements. A lot of marketing posts in university or NGO welcome talent from other field, but they must have proven marketing experience and skills.
I don’t know what industry of marketing your current work is involved. I think you should study the marketing or business management discipline to broaden your track record in business marketing in addition to the textile subject that you have now. Work experience in the relevant industry is of course important but you should also consider study some professional marketing qualification as well. There are many part-time courses running with the local universities in conjunction with the professional marketing association.
